I listen to a lot of talk radio.
I try to avoid the nutty right wing stuff, but that’s mostly because I hate arrogant blowhards like Limbaugh. To fill my need for content I turn to the ESPN podcast options, namely Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption. I know, it’s a long walk to get to my point, but here it comes… These ESPN shows regularly argue the merits of paying college football players. Now, I’d like to weigh in…

Driving the kids to school today I saw a cop on the side of the road. Much like the stream of cars in front of me I slowed to be sure that I was well within the posted limit. As I approached the Louisville cop I looked to see who he’d be clocking from a rather strange angle, he was visible from a good distance in both directions so he wasn’t sneaking up on anyone. As I got close enough to see into the car, I saw a fully uniformed officer, head tilted back, sunglasses on, jaw slack. By my count first thing in the morning means end of night shift, maybe he just needed a quick nap.
I’ve completed my second oyster race, and loved it as much as the last. I once again brought a relay team for the fun of having a larger group of friends with me, and to give the newbies a chance to breathe if they needed it. This year it was Jennelle, Brett, Sage, Brad, Leah & me. Remember those names, they’ll likely come up again. I can wait a minute if you need to go back and read them again. Ok, that was enough time, on we go.

This is like putting a bunch of Facebook updates all in one place, only with a little more content.
I rode my bike to work the other day, as I often do, mainly because I’m trying to save the world from hot. So, I came around the corner from my house to the main road when I saw the most exciting sight. There, a couple hundred yards ahead was another rider, in full Tour de France regalia. This is exciting for a couple reasons, first off, it means I’m not all alone in the world of riding my bike. It also means that I have a reason to push myself a little harder, just to see if I can keep up with what is clearly a professional rider. Turns out I can. Either that, or he was a little less professional than I had hoped. It was clear to me that if I staying strong I would catch this guy in a matter of a mile or so. So I did. I was feeling pretty good about catching this guy on his sleek road bike until we got to a downhill. I suspect he saw my shadow behind him because all of a sudden he became very serious about maintaining speed on the decent. Unfortunately my bike has underdeveloped front gear rings so I lost distance to him. In the end, he lost me down a side road because he had no qualms at passing through stop signs at full speed, but I’m pretty confident that I’m going to enjoy the new front gear rings I ordered later that day. Of course, in my defense, I ordered the new gear rings because they come with crank arms and my left crank arm was once again working at falling off the bike. Stupid stripped crank arm.
